Well, we’re back in Chicago! The lack of internet access all the way up in the cabin (and practically everywhere else we went in the mountains of Kentucky) kept me from being able to blog while there. But here are some
highlights of the trip. We stayed in this beautiful cabin called Echo Falls Cabin. While the website showed some nice little rock falls somewhere behind the cabin, we never saw them. Though they were experiencing a “dry spell,” according to a local shopkeeper.
The nice part was that there wasn’t much of anything around; the bad part is that there
wasn’t much of anything around. So we spent most of the time in the cabin or taking in the natural sights. It was really lovely being out in the country and having peace and quiet . . . well, aside from the multitude of bird songs, which was so very different and enjoyable
when compared to the usual sounds in Chicago of buses, people yelling, traffic, and all assorted other unidentified noises that we are bombarded with daily.
We did manage to find an antique shop in Berea that we had a great time browsing through. We bought nearly a car-load of stuff, but in Chicago would’ve paid three times as much for. So that was a great place to go shopping!
Tribeca loved being out in the country, though Greylock seemed as if he would’ve been
more happy being at home back in Chicago. I think as he gets older, he gets more picky. But it seems that as long as he’s with his mom, he’s a happy pug.
I have to say, as much as I enjoy Second Life, it’s great to retreat into the first
one. I had a wonderful time, but am also glad to be back home.
My editor also approved my first chapter of the five I’m writing for the book, so now it’s on to the next chapter . . .
